The African Social Development Aid have since the beginning of the year 2009 been distributing visual and reading glasses to various eye clinics in the country (Ghana);  the latest recipients being the Offinso St Patrick’s Hospital (Eye Clinic) in the Ashanti Region of Ghana. Earlier, ASDA had made donations to the Komfo Anokye Hospital in Kumasi. The glasses are part of a large consignment received from the Clinica Baviera in Spain and Care Vision in the Netherlands.

Before the presentation, the Ghanaian Director of the African Social Development Aid, Mrs Blessing-William took a round inspection of the eye clinic to assess the current situation. Even though conclusions could not be made, it was obvious that with some support, the various Eye Clinics in the country would do well in treating various eye problems. In other ceremonies, ASDA in collaboration with the eye clinics further checked and distributed glasses to those poor people who can not afford eye glasses after receiving doctor’s prescriptions.

Both Clinica Baviera and Care Vision are Europe’s top specialists in eye care solutions and are very much willing to assist in the field of eye care in partnership with the Foundation ASDA.

Additional needs identified
It is our hope that the donors (Clinica Baviera and Care Vision) will at a stage in time be willing to assist at least one Eye Clinic in Ghana with both Equipments and Glasses.
