Diaspora groups continue to say good-bye to their mentor and driving force- Leila Rispens-Noel. Leila, well known for her passion and concern towards a poverty-free world, has been very instrumental in advocating for the inclusion of migration in development strategies and the active participation of diaspora organizations in decision-making processes in the field of migration and development. Farewell and Thanksgiving parties have become the order of the day in The Netherlands since the beginning of March 2009.
ASDA has taken delivery of a large consignment of glasses from the Clinica Baviera in Spain. This is a contribution from the Clinica towards ASDA's Healthcare program. The glasses are to be despatched to Ghana to help various eye patients who cannot afford the high costs of medicated glasses.
Diaspora Remittances for Development African Diasporas are best known for the high remittances they send to their countries of origin. However, they are not best known as higher investors in their communities. The African Social Development Aid (ASDA) had been meditating over this issue until 15 November when the Foundation, with the assistance of the Oxfam-Novib invited the public to discuss the issue.
ASDA launches Business Association in Ghana. It is the first of its kind in the country under the umbrella of the African Social Development Aid. The aim of the Business Association is to promote a great networking community for both medium and large scale organisations. At the ceremony which took place in Kumasi, the Foundation's regional headquarters and attended by over 60 participants, the Executive Director explained to members the aims and objectives
